Ingredients of Fish Fingers
- Fish fillets
- Lime juice
- Ginger garlic paste
- Ground black pepper
- Red pepper flakes
- Ground turmeric
- Rice flour
- All-purpose flour
- Baking soda
- Bread crumbs
you will need fish fillets of any white fish. The pieces should be alike to the fingers. Cod, haddock, or swai will work best. It will be good if you can use frozen fish in this preparation. If you are going to use frozen fish then you need to thaw it before using it.
Marination gives an amazing flavor to the preparation. You need to use freshly squeezed lime juice, freshly ground black pepper, red pepper flakes, ginger garlic paste, salt, and ground turmeric for marination.
You can use the ingredients as per your taste.
For making the batter you need to mix cornstarch, rice flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and eggs. Before frying the fish fillets you need to dip the fish fillets into this batter to make them crispy and crunchy.
Finally, you need bread crumbs to coat the batter-covered fish fillets. Bread crumbs will keep the batter in its place and will make the fish fingers crispier. You can use Italian style or regular fine bread crumbs.
How to make Fish Fingers-
- Step 1. First, you need to wash the boneless fish fillets (approximately 300 gms). After washing you need to wipe them out with a kitchen towel. Using a sharp knife you can cut the fillets like a finger. The stripes must be 2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide.
- Step 2: Put the fish fillets in a mixing bowl. Then add ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon ground turmeric, ½ teaspoon fresh lime juice, ½ teaspoon ground black pepper, ½ teaspoon freshly chopped red flakes, and ½ teaspoon ginger garlic paste. And marinate them well. Keep aside this marinated fish for 10 minutes.
- Step 3: in another mixing bowl you need to add 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, 1 teaspoon of rice flour, ¼ teaspoon baking soda, and 2 large-sized eggs, stir together this mixture.
- Step 4: then you need to add the marinated fish into this mixture and again set aside for another 10 minutes.
- Step 5: heat 4 to 5 cups of vegetable oil over high heat. While the oil is hot, you need to put it on medium heat.
- Step 6: Finally, coat the fish strips with bread crumbs and put them inside the oil for frying.
For better results, you should coat the fish fingers with bread crumbs and immediately poured into the hot oil. You should not keep the fish finger for a while after coated with bread crumbs.
Once the fish strips are brown and crispy you need to take them out from the hot oil. Serve these fish fingers with a dipping sauce.
