With the rise of 3D modeling and animation software for both professionals and hobbyists alike, it’s easier than ever to make your ideas come to life. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get stuck along the way.
We’ve come up with some of our favorite tips from experts in the field that have helped us create stunning 3D art—and we hope they’ll help you too!
1- Use a variety of different tools and techniques.
If you’re trying to create 3d art, it can be tempting to try and do everything with one tool. But it’s important to have a variety of different skills under your belt to use the right tool for the job.
Here are some of the best 3D illustrations to take inspiration from. For example, if you’re trying to create a 3d art that looks like a real-life scene, you might want to use techniques that give your images a more realistic look and feel. If you’re trying to create something that looks more like an illustration than reality (like an illustration of a cartoon character), you might want to use different tools and techniques than realism-based ones.
2- Write a story before you start drawing anything!
If you’re starting with 3d art, it may seem like a good idea to jump right into the drawing process. But I’ve found that writing a story before starting to draw can help me make better decisions later on.
It might sound strange to write a story before starting to draw, but having an idea of what happens in your scene will help you decide where to place objects in space and how they interact with each other when they come together in 3d space. Writing also helps me choose good poses for my characters (if any) so that everything looks natural when it comes together in 3d space later down the road!
3- Look at examples of other people’s work
When you’re learning how to create 3D art, it’s tempting to dive in and try things out. But if you want to get better at something, you must take the time to look at what other people have done.
You could do this in person by going to a museum or gallery or online by searching for tutorials or videos on how people created their pieces.
The more examples of art you consume, the more likely it is that your own work will be inspired by and similar to existing pieces.
4 – Be patient and persistent!
You’re excited to get started on this new project that you’ve been working on for months now. If you’re not patient and persistent, your artwork won’t turn out as well as it could.
Many things could go wrong when you’re learning new skills, but the most important thing is to keep going! It may take a while before your skills improve (and sometimes it feels like they never will), but the more time you spend practicing, the better off you’ll be.
So don’t stress if it takes a few tries before getting the results you want—keep trying, and eventually, something will come together!
5- Keep the design simple and clear
Simplicity is the key to any great design, but it’s especially important in illustration. You want your viewer to focus on the message of your work, not get lost in a sea of detail. While it is tempting to go all-out with character design or background elements, keep it simple—you’ll be glad you did!
And there you have them—the five best tips to create stunning illustrations.
Now you know how to make the most of your skills and create content that will make your followers feel like they’re in a different world when they look at your artworks.
So, what are you waiting for? Go forth and create!
